AFRICA SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS: CAA Inspection Mission on the Ground in Accra

The Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) conducted an inspection mission in Ghana from April 8 to 11, 2026, in preparation for the 24th African Senior Championships, scheduled to take place in Accra from May 12 to 17, 2026.

The mission was comprised by Mr Lamine FATY, the Chief Executive Officer, and Mrs Melinda LOMBARD, Television and Media Advisor. Mr Aziz DAOUDA, the Director of the Technical Department, who was also slated to participate, was unable to join at the last minute due to flight issues.

The CAA delegation's visit was marked by meetings with the Ministry of Sports, the Local Organizing Committee, and especially the Ghanaian Federation to review presentations from the following commissions (Technical, Catering and Transport, Medical and Anti-doping, Security, Communication, Media, TV Rights and Production, etc.).

The Local Organizing Committee provided satisfactory answers to the CAA delegation regarding all the issues raised during these meetings. Everything is in place for the success of the championships.

An online accreditation system has been in place since April 10, 2026, allowing national federations to have their own usernames and passwords to directly enter accreditation data on the platform.

Logo and Mascot

The Championships logo and mascot have been available for some time, and an official ceremony was held for the unveiling and launch of the communication campaign.

TV Production Commission / TV Rights

The CAA, in collaboration with WA, will provide the broadcast signal for wide distribution and global exposure of the championships across various streaming platforms.

The championship website will go live on April 23, 2026.
