The 28th Congress of the African Athletics Confederation (CAA), the 3rd African Under-18 Championship (U18) and the 14th African Under-20 Championship (U20) are the major events in Africa of 2019.
The African Athletics Confederation (CAA) will hold its 28th Congress on April 15, 2019 in Abidjan (Republic of Côte d'Ivoire). ONLY the president of the CAA will be elected by the congress. The Presidents of Regions and the Individual Members of the Congress shall be elected at their respective Congresses, in accordance with the quotas provided for in these Statutes. Their election is ratified by the CAA Congress, as well as by the President of the Athletes' Commission, as an ex-officio member of the CAA Council. All these provisions are contained in the new statutes of CAA adopted on October 09, 2017 in Rabat (Morocco).
In this regard, the CAA invites the Regions to hold their elective general assembly before 31 December 2018 and to communicate at the latest before 15 January 2019, the list of members who will represent them to the future council of the CAA.
As part of the agenda of the congress, the national federations have the opportunity to propose issues on the agenda of the life of the CAA or technical and statutory. However, to be taken into account, these questions must reach the CAA General Management no later than 3 months before the Congress is held, that is to say on January 15, 2019.
In addition, the 3rd African Under-18 Championship (U18) and the 14th African Under-20 Championship (U20) will be organized cumulatively from 16 to 20 April2019 in Abidjan (Republic of Côte d'Ivoire) .
These competitions will take place at the same time and will be held over 5 days according to a well-established schedule.
