The Senegalese Louis François Mendy (12''91 in the 110m hurdles) and the Gambian Gina Bass (11''02 in the 100m) achieved the best performances of the Dakar meeting, disputed on Saturday June 25 in the annex of the Abdoulaye Wade stadium of Diamniadio. Dakar welcomed a few African champions on its return, including the Senegalese Sangoné Kandji, who recently won the triple jump in Mauritius. She also finished in 2nd place (13m18) in a competition won by the reigning African vice-champion, her compatriot Saly Sarr with a jump measured at 13m49. Big names in African athletics such as the Congolese Franck Elemba (Shot Put) and the Ivorian Arthur Cissé (100m) also participated in the Dakar meeting.
The Dakar international meeting was back after a seven-year absence.
