Africa returned from the World Indoor Championships (Glasgow 2024 from March 1 to 3) with a harvest of 3 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze.
Ethiopia (2 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze), Burkina Faso (1 Gold), Algeria (1 Silver), Benin (1 Bronze) and Kenya (1 Bronze) thus enabled Africa to appear in the Medal Table. The United States (6 Gold), Belgium (3 Gold) and New Zealand (2 Gold) occupy the final podium.
The women's 800m revealed a new star, Ethiopian Tsige Duguma who became Ethiopia's first women's indoor world champion in this discipline and her country's first gold medalist in Glasgow. Triple jumper Hugues Fabrice ZANGO struck hard again by offering Burkina Faso the Gold medal, after his coronation at the Eugene Outdoor World Championships. Beninese Noélie YARIGO made her country history by winning the Bronze medal in the 800m.
