On January 7, 2026, in Accra, Ghana, Mr. Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), and the Honorable Kofi Eddie Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation of Ghana, initialed and signed the Memorandum of Understanding concerning the holding of the 24th African Athletics Championships, scheduled to take place in Accra in 2026.
In addition to President Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, the CAA delegation included Chief Tonobok Okowac, CAA Vice-President, and Lamine Faty, CAA Director General.
