U18/20 CAA CHAMPIONSHIP LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE UNVEILED

A 17 member organizing committee for the 2023 under 18 and under 20 Confederation of African Athletics -CAA- Junior Athletics Championships has been unveiled.

Minister of Sports Elvis Nkandu officially unveiled the Local Organizing Committee to spearhead the hosting of the CAA championships scheduled to be hosted in Lusaka, Zambia from 29th April to 3rd May this year.

 

The committee will be headed by Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe alongside Zambia Athletics President Elias Mpondela and Mr John Zulu who is Director of Sports at the Ministry.

The local organizing committee has toured the Heroes stadium.This was done to appreciate the facility and look at the areas which need to be rehabilitated aside from the running track.

Zambia is the host of the second edition of the under 18/20 combined Africa Junior Championships.

The competition will be held at the National Heroes stadium and the OYDC running track will be used for warm up for the athletes from 29th April to 3rd May 2023.

The competition will see over 50 nations participating with over 40 events in each age category.
